Before generating a key, make sure you have set up your preferred Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) mechanism. Click here for more information about 2FA.

Step 1: API Access
- Log into Bitstamp and click on Account in the top-right corner
- Select Security then API Access
- Click New API Key
- Assign appropriate permissions by checking the relevant switch
Step 2: Enter Your 2FA Code
- Assign appropriate permissions and click Submit
- Enter your 2-Factor Authentication code
Step 3: Confirmation E-mail
- Click Activate on the API Access page
- Click the confirmation link e-mailed to you from Bitstamp
Step 3: View and Save Your Keys
- The new API key and secret will be displayed on the API Access page
- The API secret will only be displayed once
- Please make sure to save both keys as you will need them when you add the API key to Terminal
Step 4: Add Your Bitstamp API Keys to Terminal
- Log into Terminal and click on Accounts
- Click +Add Account
- Under Exchange
Select the exchange you are adding (BITSTAMP) - Under Account Name
Enter a name for this account here -
Enter your Bitstamp User Id and the two keys generated on Bitstamp:
- The Key will go into the Public Key field
- The Secret will go into the Private Key field
